Using guitar tab to teach yourself how to get really good at the instrument isn’t all that far-fetched. I wouldn’t tell anyone to soley rely on this method of learning guitar playing, but none the less its nice way to get a good grasp of musicianship.

Most people would rather just print off tab from a website rather than purchase a guitar tab book, but for the most part I would not recommend this. In most cases, no matter how well a guitarist means, or how good they think they are – user submitted tabs found on line are very inaccurate nine out of ten times.

Guitar tab books are authorized representations of a bands work, note for note. In fact you’ll find that if you try to learn one of your favorite group’s songs using a tab book that it may even sound funny. People tend to tab things out as they hear them and not as they were truly written. By using the official tab book, you may find new insight into an artist’s playing.

This is also a great education to invest in. After all, its probably the closest that you’ll ever get to getting a one-on-one lesson with your favorite guitar player. However, make sure that you first assess the material and don’t buy the book if you feel that you will become frustrated if its too hard. Guitar tab books get put to waste a lot because sometimes the music is way too ambitious for a student, and tab books are always cheap.

You can learn and master guitar by studying the style of music that your favorite player stems from. Many online courses will show you how to learn and master guitar styles, and usually you can learn guitar this way very easily.
